Good Morning Vietnam

Good Morning Vietnam

The film Good Morning Vietnam from 1987 is based on a true story about Adrian Cronauer, who is a former United States Air Force sergeant and former radio personality.

In 1965, the DJ Adrian Cronauer  who is a nonconformist with a wicked sense of humor  is assigned to take over and bring humor to Saigon’s Armed Forces Radio.

He becomes extremely popular by his audience, opposed to his dull predecessors,  heralding each broadcast with a loud “Gooooood morning, Vietnaaaaaaam, but he annoys his superiors out of the roof, especially Lt. Steven Hauk (Bruno Kirby).

They want to get rid of him, but he is so popular, that he enjoys protection of the higher ups. While he’s off the air, he gets befriended with locals, and experiences the horrors of the war by himself. He tries to tell his audience the truth about the war, and gets kicked out and replaced by the dull disc jockey Hauk.
